Avoid These Things If You’re Trying to Conceive

After finally settling down in professional and personal life, most women want to experience the joy of motherhood. If you are one of them, you need to avoid certain things in order to conceive. A number of factors are involved when one is trying to conceive, and unless you are prepared to make some changes, you may face difficulties in conceiving.
When both partners are healthy and below the age of 35, it is expected that the conception will happen naturally within a year of trying. However, sometimes it may take longer. It is essential for the woman to take proper care of her health and to avoid a few things that can delay the conception or even trigger a miscarriage.
What are the things to avoid when trying to conceive?
Certain Medications
Avoid certain types of medications if you are trying to conceive. These medications include those for hypertension, migraines, epilepsy, drugs that are high in steroids, and anti-inflammatory drugs. You will easily find safer alternatives to use. It would be better if you consult a gynecologist to understand the kind of medications you can use or must give up so as to conceive.
Caffeine In High Quantities
Many women enjoy a cup of coffee at different times of the day. However, if you are trying to conceive, you should avoid caffeine. The fertility among women is severely affected when they consume 200 to 300 mg of caffeine every day. Having a cup of coffee will not cause any harm, but having multiple cups is definitely not advised.
Alcohol
Alcohol is unsafe for the fetus and can potentially lead to a miscarriage. Expectant mothers are often not aware of their conception during the initial weeks, and consuming alcohol during this period can result in an unfortunate incident. Therefore, it is wise to stay away from alcohol, especially after ovulation.
Tobacco
Both partners are advised to stay away from tobacco in any form when conception is on their minds. Scientific studies have proven that the fertility of men and women can be seriously affected by smoking. Tobacco can reduce the number of sperms and also affect their fertility. Therefore, it is a primary deterrent of conception. Couples that are trying to conceive must steer clear of tobacco and any other related products at the earliest.
Marijuana
Quite a significant number of women smoke marijuana. Researchers are yet to determine the effects of this substance on the fertility of a woman. However, it is believed that marijuana can affect male fertility by reducing the quality of testosterone in the body. The reduction of testosterone can affect the fertility of the man.
Stress
Stress is another thing that women should avoid when they are making an attempt to conceive. It can affect the hypothalamus of the brain and trigger hormonal changes, resulting in late ovulation. Regardless of whether it is positive or negative, it is essential to try everything possible to stay away from stress.
Hot Tubs
Soaking yourself in a hot tub may sound relaxing, but it can increase the temperature of the body due to the artificial methods that are used. This may have a negative impact on the pregnancy. Using a hot tub is not restricted just to the woman, but also her partner because using a hot tub can affect the man’s sperm count.
Contaminated Seafood
Although fish is an ideal food during pregnancy, you should not take contaminated seafood. Seafood that is contaminated with mercury can be detrimental to the growth of the fetus. You are advised to have sweet water fish or fish that is cultivated in local ponds and rivers.
Seek more advice from a gynecologist about the things to avoid. It is a wise idea to get professional advice and follow it to the letter.
