These Are The Habits That Ruin Your Happiness

Everyone wants to feel happy and contented in life. But do you usually achieve this goal of being happy? Probably not. At times, you certainly find yourself in misery and pain. Why so?

“Happiness is the art of never holding in your mind the memory of any unpleasant thing that has passed.” — unknown

Below are some of the habits that hinder you from achieving real happiness.  You should cut them off as soon as possible:

 Comparing Yourself To Others

In the modern world, competition is rampant. As such, the temptation to compare yourself to other people can be overwhelming. From academics to career and social life, people compare themselves to others while wishing they could be as good as —or even better than—them.

By competing with and comparing yourself to other people, you will get nothing but frustrations. Instead of comparing yourself to others, start focusing on yourself—focus on achieving your goals. If people get ahead of you, that is okay. Remember that there are some areas where you excel while they lag behind. After all, life is a journey, not a race.

Not Appreciating What You Already Have

As a human being, it is our innate nature to desire something or someone in our life. This desire often materializes in the form of dreams, wishes, and passions. While all these drive us to work harder to make it in life, at times, people focus so much on their goals that they fail to notice what they have

Instead of whining that things don’t go your way, take a moment to look back and see how far you have come and give thanks for everything you have. You should remember that you don’t  have to get everything you desire.

Letting Fear or Hate Control You

“A fear of weakness only strengthens weakness.”
― Criss Jami

When you were young, you used to dream big, and you had nothing else in mind but the drive to achieve those dreams. However, as you grew up, your knowledge base expanded and you started to know better–you realized that achieving a dream is not as easy as it seems.  Well, this may have led you to fear of failure. Do you still let the fear hold you back from taking that next step to be closer to your dream?

Never let fear control you.  Take the next step; never be afraid of failure. For sure, failure hurts and is discouraging, but you lose nothing by trying. Furthermore, trying makes you experienced.  If you make no attempt, you will forever be stuck. It is better to do your best to accomplish your dream than to be trapped in fear.
