Shannen Doherty Join ‘Riverdale’ Cast To Pay Tribute To Luke Perry.

Beverly Hills 90210 star confirms that she will join the Riverdale cast to pay tribute to Luke Perry.

The actress confirmed her tribute to late friend and former co-star Luke Perry through an Instagram post, as she told fans that she is ‘Deeply Honored’ to be apart of the tribute on Riverdale.

It was revealed that the show will pay a tribute to the late actor who recently passed away at only 52 after suffering a stroke. The tribute to Luke Perry is set to air this fall in the shows season four premiere.

Doherty’s appearance on the show’s episode which is titled – “In Memoriam” was also confirmed by Robert Aguirre-Sacasa on Sunday at the comic-con festival in San Diego.
The tribute aims to reflect on the actors enduring legacy and the imprint that his character, Fred Andrews had on the series and other characters. The last episode of Riverdale that Perry filmed before suffering a serious stroke aired only last April.

The cast of ‘Riverdale’ have all spoken about how important is the tribute episode and much thought has gone into how to make it as special as possible. The show’s directors asked the actress to take part after Perry had been wanting to secure a role for her on the show since day one.

While it has not yet been revealed who Doherty is playing, the cast did reveal that her role is pivotal and super emotional.

The two actors met on the set of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ in the ’90s where Shannon played the character of Luke’s primary love interest. The two became good friends and rekindled their friendship in 2015 remaining close until Luke’s tragic death, making her appearance in the tribute even more special.

Shannen is still struggling with the loss of her friend and is honored to be appearing in the tribute to Perry before she goes onto rejoin Perry’s other Beverly Hills, 90210 casts in mock reboot series.
