Decide to be happy
You might think this is easier said than done, but it is not. Even though we were taught that there are only winners and losers in life, as adults we have to realize there are more than two sides of this story. Generally, life is a game in which we always struggle to earn more points, which are often measured in some currency (dollars, euros, etc.) and trinkets. By doing this, somewhere on the way, we lose the contact with our own soul. We forget about the things that make us happy and gradually become sad creatures with no real happiness in our lives.
Surprisingly enough, this thing called happiness requires only our decision to be happy and voila – is there. You should realize how happy you are for all the opportunities that are in front of you and for all the things you possess. Change your mindset
One other book written by Carol C. Dweck called Mindset: The New Psychology of Success can help you realize that people have either a fixed or a growth mindset. On one side, people with fixed mindsets need constant validation, and they see success, talent, and fate as predetermined by genetics or one’s last name.
Imagine that every day is the last day on Earth
Just imagine that you know the world will end tomorrow. What would you do today? How would you spend your day and who would you do it with? By so thinking, you will realize that the life is too short to spend it miserably. Decide what’s important for you and let go of the rest.
Also, think for a second what you would do if you lost everything. What if there is some natural catastrophe like an earthquake, a flood or something similarly devastating and you survived but lost all your property? What would you do then?
The truth is that life is what matters the most and no one can take away what’s in your mind. Therefore, concentrate on the things inside of it and work on the real values.
Realize who gives some value to your life and forgive
The people you spend time with influence you and there is no doubt in it. As such, your parents were right that it is bad for you to hang around bad people. Well, who are those ‘bad people’? Well, the ‘bad people’ are those who don’t add value to your life, those who are negative. Have you noticed some? From today, choose wisely whom you’re be spending your time with.
Unplug yourself and meditate
As we already mentioned at the beginning of this text, we sometimes feel that the world is gradually spinning faster and faster with each day. But even so, we are not obliged to follow its speed, right? We can take our time and decide to relax. Therefore, do this today or tomorrow—get the whole day for relaxing activities and just meditate. When the day is over and the other one comes, you will stat seeing the whole world differently from another perspective and this will be your new self. Embrace it since it represents the beginning of your new life and just be happy with it.
